Alan Bowell Deceased

It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of Alan Bowell. He died on Saturday, following a long battle against pancreatic cancer.

Alan was Hertfordshire’s President twice, in 1985 and in 1993. Alan was a club coach and facilitated a Saturday morning training session for a county squad, which ran for several years. Alan was a county swimming official, who was qualified as a timekeeper, judge and starter. He officiated in those capacities for county and club over many years and also refereed club, league and school galas. Alan served on the county executive for many years and was also an active member of the county swimming committee, helping the county to provide competition and development for many athletes. He served on the Management Board until his illness.

There will be a short family service at the Parndon Wood Crematorium, Harlow at 10:45 am on Tuesday 3rd January 2012, followed by a celebration service of Alan’s life to beheld at St. Mary’s Church, Standon High Street, Herts. SG111 LB, at 11:45 am to which all are very welcome. You are then invited to join the family for refreshments at The Star public house [opposite the church].

Family flowers only please but donations (if wished) to Macmillan nurses would be welcomed.  The attached link may be useful:
