Water Polo Update

The 2015 Herts Water Polo League is now well underway and by the end of May nine league games have been completed, 2 games in Division One & 7 in Division Two.

In Division One

Hatfield opened their campaign with a very close fought game at home to Spalding winning the game in the last few minutes by a single goal at 7-6.

The other game played so far in Division One saw Watford travel to play Northampton at the new Northampton Boys School 25m double deep pool, an excellent facility for polo, Watford fielded nine under 14’s in their team and with Northampton also fielding several Juniors some that were new to polo it was the more experienced side that came away with the points as Watford recorded a comfortable 21-5 victory.

At the end of May Watford lead the table on goal difference to Northampton but with 4 Div One games to be played in June the table could look a lot different in a few weeks time.

In Division Two

In early April Cambridge got the season up & running with a home game against Dunstable recording a 9-4 victory to claim the three points, Dunstable however bounced back three days later with an away day victory at Hitchin winning 9-4 and they followed this up 10 days later with another victory this time away to Hertford winning the game 11-5.

Into May and Cambridge continued their good home form with a comfortable victory against Milton Keynes winning 17-1. Dunstable were back on the road in mid May with a trip to Milton Keynes & they recorded their third victory of the season winning the game 6-4. In Hertford’s next home game against Cambridge the away side couldn’t raise a team so Hertford claimed the three points and in the last game to be played in May Milton Keynes recorded a home victory beating Hitchin by the narrowest of margins winning the game in the final few seconds by 7-6.

At the end of May Dunstable lead the Div Two table with 10 points having won three out of their four games played, all away from home, Cambridge are second in the table with six points having won two of their three opening games. Milton Keynes are third (5 points), Hertford (4 points) & Hitchin (2 points).

Herts KO Cup
